SPECIFICATION

An airfoil axial impeller (sometimes called an axial fan or axial blower) is a widely used device in the fields of aerodynamics and fluid mechanics, primarily for moving air or other gases. Unlike centrifugal fans, axial fans are characterised by the flow of air in the direction of the fan shaft. This type of fan is widely used in air-conditioning systems, cooling towers, household appliances (e.g., electric fans), industrial cooling processes, and applications requiring high volume, low pressure air transfer.

Key Features of Axial Impellers
High efficiency: Axial fans are usually more efficient than other types of fans for applications that need to handle large volumes of gas but do not require a high pressure header.
Compact design: Due to their linear design, axial fans can be installed in relatively small spaces.
Adjustable blade angle: Some advanced axial fans allow the user to adjust the angle of the blades to optimise performance for different operating conditions.
Direct or belt drive: Most axial fans can be driven directly by a motor or connected to a motor via a belt, the latter allowing more speed control options.

Importance of Airfoil Design
The design of the airfoils (i.e. blades) is critical to the overall performance of an axial impeller. A good airfoil design reduces noise, improves efficiency and enhances stability. The blades of modern axial impellers are often aerodynamically optimised shapes designed to minimise drag while maximising thrust or suction. In addition, different materials may be used to manufacture the blades to suit the needs of a particular application, including, but not limited to, aluminium alloys, stainless steel and composites.

Application Examples
Ventilation systems: Used in large buildings to provide fresh air and exhaust contaminated air.
Cooling applications: Such as cooling systems in computer server rooms or cooling towers used to reduce temperatures in industrial processes.
Agriculture: In grain dryers to help speed up the drying process.
Transportation: Axial fans are also often used in air conditioning systems on trains, aircraft and ships.
